According to the notice of the Ministry of Trade of Turkey, published in the Official Gazette on 7 May 2019, Turkey terminated the safeguard investigation regarding a wide scope of steel products, including flat and long steel products, pipes, certain stainless steel articles and railway articles.
This investigation was initiated ex-officio by the Ministry of Trade on 27 April 2018, following EU's safeguard investigation for steel products triggered by tariff increases of the USA based on allegedly national security concerns. Turkey applied provisional measures (tariff quotas) during the safeguard investigation starting from 16 October 2018.
